What you’re going to get out of this course is the ability to use the basic tools of computational thinking to write small-scale programs. | |

I’m a brand-new professor to NTHU and I’m teaching a course on Computational Linguistics | |
My name is Tom Lee. I am here, together with Professor Wang. We’re going to be lecturing the course this term. | |
I need to introduce my co-instructor for this class, and you’ll see her in a minute. | |
And so, I’m going to include four guest lecturers. The first is Dr. Marvin Lee who teaches the Introduction to Psychology course in the fall. | |
The primary knowledge you’re going to gain in this course is the notion of computation, and the ability to write programs. | |
A major concern throughout the course is the variety of literature. | |
We’ll be covering all of those areas. | |
So, we are going to cover a very wide range of topics, including brains, adults, language, and many others. | |
And then, I want to talk about cultural identity. | |
Then I want to talk with you for a couple of minutes about the plants that we’ll be examining. I’ll tell you about the ones we mostly won’t be looking at. | |
So the course is going to be divided in the following way. | |
And what this is going to be is a comprehensive introduction to the study of disease. | |
We’ll start with the solution curve. And we’ll end with the integral curve. | |
In Week 1, we’ve been trying to talk about this question: What is a binary search tree? | |
So, the first half of this lecture is going to be about how to study it, and the second half of the lecture is going to be how to prepare for tests. | |
I’m not going to tell you what research methods are, or what a hypothesis is. | |
Well, I have to make a decision. I don’t have time to talk about research methods. | |
Finally, throughout this course we will discuss issues of surrogate motherhood. | |
This course actually will not use a heavy amount of mathematics. | |
I expect you to behave responsibly and I will as well. | |
And one thing I would strongly suggest is to form some sort of study groups, either formally or informally. | |
The other thing I want to mention is that recitations are also very important. | |
This course is not about how well you can memorize facts. |
